As an avid reader of Everything We Know About Denver, you have already seen the event details for the 2011 Dinner in White. This is a great event hosted by the AMC Cancer Fund and all proceeds go directly to the University of Colorado Cancer Center. This is a unique opportunity to experience Denver and support local cancer research, treatment, and prevention.

The idea is simple: dress in all white, prepare a picnic dinner and await notification at 6:00pm revealing the secret location in Denver. Upon arrival you WILL be dazzled and entertained. Sip on a French cocktail, shop in the Parisian marketplace, take a spin on the dance floor or relax under the glow of the night. The Search for the Perfect Bread Pudding

I had found it. The perfect bread pudding. I didn’t even think I liked bread pudding, but this was unbelievable. I, personally, described it as “orgasmic” but some others might call it a “foodgasm or mouthwatering” – whatever you prefer. It was at Via – on Wynkoop and 19th. A hint of peach flavor, made from the yummy squishy bread they serve at Via. And now, it’s clooooooosed. Now it’s a Tavern. Fun for burgers and football game watching. But not bread pudding. Noooooooo.

So here I am again, in search of the perfect bread pudding in Denver – at an establishment that still has open doors. I haven’t found it yet but there are close seconds, and here is where I’ve found them (or wouldn’t recommend the bread pudding but would recommend an alternative!) – check back for updates as I try around town or leave a comment of what you recommend!

While ChoLon is delicious, their banana bread pudding did not make my mouth water. Their soup dumplings, however, did. Dessert: those spiced donuts (yum!)

Biennial of the Americas

If you haven’t taken advantage of the expansive Biennial of the Americas hosted here in Denver this month, you have a few more days left! The cultural celebration has events all over the city exploring the Western Hemisphere including lectures, art exhibits, performances and more. Be sure to check out McNichols at Civic Center Park and the art installations for “The Nature of Things” exhibit. It’s the first time since 1955 that the building is open to the public and its three floors are filled with works from 24 artists. They are sure to make you stop and think about the state of modern society — while a couple might make you stop and wonder if what you’re looking at really qualifies as art. The Pavillions are having a Forever 21 Store Re-opening event. They’ll be having:

- FREE gift card giveaways from Forever 21.

Denver’s First Dinner in White

We will be attending one of Denver’s not to miss events this summer – The ‘Dinner in White’ hosted by the AMC Cancer Fund on Saturday August 7th. The ‘Dinner in White’ is modeled after the Diner Blanc in Paris as a special fundraising event for the group. The AMC Cancer Fund is spreading the word about this special event by using social media marketing so be sure to check out their Facebook page. The location will be kept secret until one hour prior. Then, all registered guests dressed all in white will converge from all over the city to enjoy and evening under the lights of Denver with music, art, wine, and networking.

Westword Artopia

I went to this event a couple years back and I’d say it was a fun time: Westword’s Artopia. This year’s is on February 20th from 7 to 10:30 pm @ Vinyl + area venues. Each area is transformed into a theme – art, music/dancing, fashion. Drinks are included in your ticket. $25.

Westword Artopia incorporates food, drinks, art, music, theater, and fashion into one evening, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting a local charity. Westword will award 5 upcoming individuals or small organizations that have made an impact in the local art community. The winners will be featured in a special pullout section of Westword on February 18, 2010 and will be honored at the event. Each award recipient will receive a check for $3,000.
