Just wanted to clear something up for a moment. There are two Denver Cruiser rides for Halloween. One is on the 28th (Cruisaroo) and the other is on actual Halloween. Check em out via the links here. Last year was a blast. Don’t forget about the pillow fight in Larimar Square, either… unless I’m misinformed and it’s not happening this year, in which case you should leave a comment!
The Denver Convention & Visitors Bureau is offering a new program. It’s a 2 for 1 program to local arts and entertainment events that are cultural in nature. Examples this week are STARZ movies and some concerts in Denver. You can sign up for the email and be notified of the program here. I’m sure that if it becomes more popular, bigger and better events will be featured, so sign-up and check it out.
From the VISIT DENVER site:
DENVER 2 for 1 TIX is a free program that provides weekly 2 for 1 ticket and admission discounts for metro Denver arts and entertainment. DENVER 2 for 1 TIX is a joint program of DOCA (Denver Office of Cultural Affairs) and VISIT DENVER.
Denver Arts Week, November 6 – 14th is bookended by the Starz Film Fest and Night at the Museum Events. It kicks off with a First Friday and goes on with the fun from there.
Artsy neighborhoods participating include Santa Fe Arts District, Cherry Creek North, Golden Triangle, Downtown, RiNo, Berkeley (Tennyson St.) and Belmar.
Night at the Museums is from 5 to 10 pm and all the museums in town will be open for free, and you can take a free shuttle to the museums starting at Cherry Creek Mall. The night of free museums includes the DAM, DMNS, the MCA, and the kid’s museum. Check out the shuttle schedules on the site as they don’t hit up each museum per shuttle.
Straight from the site:
Denver Arts Week is a weeklong celebration, highlighting the city’s visual and performing arts, taking place at seven neighborhood art districts, dozens of theaters and museums, and more than 100 art galleries. The event is organized by VISIT DENVER to help draw local and national attention to the cultural renaissance that Denver is experiencing – a renaissance that led Sunset Magazine to proclaim: “The Mile High City is remaking itself as a world capital of art and architecture.”
Last night we hit up the new special exhibit on Genghis Khan at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. The exhibit has an impressive entry, as it’s all temperature controlled to help the artifacts survive overtime. It’s also very informative and I’ve been using my new found knowledge all day – did you know that Khan is very positively viewed in some other cultures as a just ruler? Check out the passports when you’re there and the musical entertainment.
Check it out: Online here where you can also take a quiz, watch the ad from DMNS about it (which I love) or enter a coloring contest with your kids. The museum is open to visit from 9 am to 5 pm and you can purchase tickets ahead of time online.
If you go, be sure to check out the other DMNS exhibits – my favorite so far is the Expedition Health.
